Arsenal host Bayern Munich in the first leg of their highly anticipated Champions League last 16 tie on Wednesday night and record signing Mesut Ozil believes his side have the supernatural characters to upset the odds.
Many have predicted a gruelling night for the Gunners with Pep Guardiola’s side in fine form as they have opened up a 15 point lead at the top of the Bundesliga and arrive in north London as reigning European champions. Hailed as the best in the world, can Arsenal really stop the Bayern juggernaut?
Arsenal men slumped to a 3-1 defeat when they faced the Bavarians last year and it will take something special for Ozil and co to eliminate the German giants.
However, while a trio of Gunners attackers are all set to return to the starting line-up, Wenger also has three other men in his squad this year that are a little out of the ordinary, Ozil jokes about – on his official Facebook account.
First up is Hulk, (no there hasn’t been a shock transfer by the Zenit St Petersburg forward), we’re talking about the big green man no-one likes when he’s angry, who will be slotting in up front and terrifying the man that usually personifies calmness, Philipp Lahm. Although expected to receive a yellow card at some point for removing his shirt.
At right back, we have John-Rambo – blessed with camouflage techniques, (and lethal hand to hand combat if needs must), that will help him traverse into Bayern’s territory undetected before launching a surprise attack on the unwitting Bavarians.
Lastly, in the middle of the park we have Superman. While Bastian Schweinsteiger is busy trying to work out whether it is a bird or plane that has just flown past him the damage will have already been done by the caped crusader.
Of course the men in question are Lukas Podolski, Bacary Sagna and Ozil himself, with the former Real Madrid man posting a photo of the trio at Arsenal’s fancy dress party on his official Facebook account, but Arsenal really could do with their star men producing a performance that is out of this world on Wednesday.
