Arsene Wenger looks set to have a selection headache as the Arsenal boss admitted thatMathieu Flamini is a “major doubt” for their Champions League clash with Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday evening according to Sky Sports.
The French international has been in fine form in midfield for the Gunners, but Wenger now faces the prospect of facing one of the most dangerous sides in Europe without the destroyer.
Flamini was forced off the pitch with a concussion after a clash of heads in the first half of Arsenal’s 4-1 win over Norwich City in the Premier League at the weekend.
While Wenger is reluctant to leave the French international out of the squad to face last season’s Champions League finalists, the manager says he will not risk his player if the concussion persists.
“He had concussion,” said Wenger. “He had double vision, so on the advice of the doctor I took him off because I did not want to take any gamble.
“I don’t know if he’ll be available for Dortmund, it depends now what the doctors will decide. Sometimes they are not allowed to play for five days, it depends how big the concussion was.”
Flamini may be a tough-tackling destroyer, but the Frenchman can play a bit too with a superb 93% pass completion rate so far this season.
