Club legend Nigel Winterburn believes Arsenal will sign a striker in January to help their bid for the title.
It is already known that Arsenal tried to secure a loan deal for Demba Ba from Chelsea, but fell through in the last minute, with manager Jose Mourinho refusing to sanction the deal once it was known that Arsene had signed Mesut Ozil.
Winterburn said, “We know Arsenal tried to get Demba Ba before they signed Mesut Ozil. Arsene Wenger must have realised he needed another forward.
“When you look at it in the cold light of day – they got caught out. Maybe they felt they could bring in a forward and it didn’t work for them.
“When you look at it now, Olivier Giroud has to stay fit until January. I can’t see any way that they won’t sign somebody else, whether that’s on loan or permanently, in January. Arsene Wenger will have to do that.”
It will be interesting to see if Arsenal do end up signing that much needed striker in the winter transfer window.
