Freddie Ljungberg is currently the interim manager of the Gunners and if Vieira were to take over, it could see yet another former Arsenal player play a role in charting the future of the team.
Prior to his appointment at Nice, the 43-year-old managed New York City from 2016 to 2018. Vieira has also represented Inter Milan and Manchester City during his playing career. As an Arsenal player, the defensive midfielder had won the English Premier League thrice and FA Cup four times.
Amid the rumours linking him to the vacant managerial position at Arsenal, Vieira had mentioned that it is a "very complicated job". Despite that, it is reported that the board has decided to make Vieira their top choice replacement for Unai Emery.
Besides him, Mikel Arteta and Massimiliano Allegri are also said to be among the pool of candidates linked to becoming the new manager.
