Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil laid to rest the rumours surrounding the his apparent move to German club Bayern Munich in January. The rumours that he had played his last game for the London club emerged after he picked up a knee injury and was scheduled to be out of action till next year.
The 2014 World Cup winner was said to be on his way out to Munich for £30 million as the Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich were interested. The money gained from the transfer was supposed to be used to bring Ozil’s countrymen Sami Khedira, Mats Hummels and Julian Draxler to Arsenal.
Ozil pledges loyalty to Arsenal
Mesut Ozil finally put off the rumors by announcing his commitment to the London club on Twitter.
‘Thanks for your support following my injury,’ he tweeted.
‘I’ll come back on the pitch soon as I can to help #AFC. Now and in the future.’
The 25-year-old dismissed all the speculation about his move from the Emirates and pledged he will be back to help Arsenal soon.
He also took a dig at the Bayern faithful by ending his tweet with ‘#MiaSanArsenal’ which is an interpretation of ‘Mia san mia”, the famous chant of the Bayern fans which in English means ‘we are who we are.’
