Arsenal needs to be consistent: Mertesacker

German international Per Mertesacker admits that Arsenal needs to be more consistent if the Gunners are to fight for titles this season. The last season saw an unimpressive Arsenal side manage to secure a lowly fourth place finish in the English Premier League.

Talking about the need for consistency, the defender said

“Manchester City and United have been so successful because they are so consistent. If we can keep the consistency we showed at the end of last season, we should be challenging for trophies and titles.”

Arsene Wenger’s side have not won a single silverware since their F.A. Cup triumph over rivals Manchester City at the Wembley in 2005. Arsenal fans are hoping that the title drought will end this season.
