Arsene Wenger has confirmed that even though Arsenal are in search of high profile, quality players, they won’t go after Arturo Vidal or Gareth Bale this summer. The 65-year-old Frenchman is not keen on signing them due to their price tag and has stated that Arsenal won’t spend such amount of cash on buying players.
When asked if he is ready to bid for Vidal, Wenger grinned and said, "Arturo Vidal? You must be from Chile! We have good midfielders, and at the moment we are not looking at Arturo Vidal."
“We would not get involved at that level for financial reasons. People forget that for years we had to sell our best players and that was a very difficult period. That is the reality.”
The Frenchman’s hard-work and dedication has turned things around for Arsenal and they are now turning back into the strong force they were previously. He added, “Since we are buying again, we are slowly coming back to a more competitive level. You speak maybe about stratospheric numbers where we will not be involved.”
“We have to show we want to win the league. I feel that we have moved forward and people think always it’s about buying but it’s as well about cohesion and cohesion is a very important factor that is usually a bit underrated by people. We have to keep that cohesion and maybe add quality. But the quality we have to add is in short numbers.”
