Arsene Wenger is willing to offer charismatic midfielder and fan favourite Santi Cazorla for Arda Turan in a cash plus player deal, Telegraph reports. The Gunners manager has reiterated that he means business this transfer season, having already signed Petr Cech from Chelsea last week, by targeting Arda Turan of Atletico Madrid.
Turan became the first Turkish international to win La Liga, Spanish Cup, Europa League, European Super Cup and also reached the Champions League final.
Turan in talks with three clubs: Agent
The Turkish captain has made it clear that he wants to move from the Vicente Calderon this season after moving from Galatasaray four years ago, according to The Mirror). The 28-year-old midfielder has been linked to a number of clubs this season, and the Premier League seems to be his preferred destination. Manchester United, Chelsea and now Arsenal have shown interest in signing the player.
Turan has made 32 appearances for Los Rojiblancos this season, scoring 2 goals and 4 assists in the process (stats from ESPN). His agent, Ahmed Bulut confirmed his client’s desire to leave Madrid and is currently in talks with other teams.
"We are currently in talks with three teams, but I cannot reveal the names of the clubs. However, I can tell you that they are the best in England and in European football.
“I am not going to say where Arda is going right now, it is not the right time. I would love to say, but in three to four days the club will let you know anyway,” Bulut told NTV spor.
Cazorla and cash for Turan?
The lucrative offer reportedly made by Arsenal may be enough to persuade Atletico to side with gunners in a swap deal. It would put aside interest from Manchester United and Chelsea to sign the midfielder, The Independent reports.
The Spanish side will not be willing to let go off their player for cheap this transfer season and Arsenal may have to part with Santi Cazorla to land Turan at the Emirates.
Cazorla has been tracked by the Madrid side for the past two years, with Diego Simeone being one of his admirers. The creative midfielder has made close to 150 appearances for the North London side in the past three seasons and had been a regular feature in almost all matches last season.
The 31-year-old player fits the profile perfectly for Atletico Madrid, and the cash offer makes the deal look promising for the Spanish side.
