Arsenal are moving closer to agreeing a deal that will see QPR striker Loic Remy move to the Emirates.
The French striker has an £8 million release clause in his contract, report the Daily Mail, and he is keen on the move and is willing to do what it takes to push the transfer through. Spurs had been in talks with Remy over the summer too.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has made signing a striker a top priority this window and his targets also include Mario Mandzukic and Alvaro Morata but the Arsenal boss has distanced himself from the signing of Mario Balotelli.
Remy enjoyed a productive season with Newcastle this season, scoring 14 league goals for Alan Pardew’s side.
The Magpies have expressed an interest in retaining the French striker, who became a talisman for the north-east club and is now with his country for the World Cup, but Remy has a desire to play at a higher level.
Like Manchester United it is rumoured that Arsenal have a considerable amount of money to spend in the transfer market but it remains unclear whether or not they will fully utilise it.
As well as a forward Wenger wants to sign a goalkeeper, a right back and a defensive midfielder.
