Arsenal are targeting Paris Saint-Germain forward Ezequiel Lavezzi as Arsene Wenger bids to improve his strikeforce ahead of the new Premier League season, according to the Metro.
The Argentina forward Lavezzi was targeted by Chelsea and a deal was thought to be close a couple of weeks ago but that seems to have gone quiet, allowing Arsenal move on Lavezzi.
Has was a star in Serie A with Napoli before making the move to the French capital with Paris Saint-Germain, but struggled last season and collected some criticism for his inconsistency.
Arsenal are thought to want to bring him to the Premier League and end his tough time in France, giving him a fresh start in north London. The Gunners are also believed to be targeting controversial AC Milan striker, Mario Balotelli.
Arsenal have been linked with a potential £27 million transfer for the Italian, who scored the winning goal that beat England last week. His agent, Mino Raiola, hinted at the move over the weekend by suggesting that talks may well ongoing.
Both Lavezzi and Balotelli would provide ample quality in the final third for the Gunners who are aiming to challenge for the Premier League title next season. They sat top of the league longer than any other team last season but fell away and finished fourth, just ahead of Everton.
