John Terry says that if Arsenal land Petr Cech from Chelsea, then he will save them 12 or 15 points next season. The Chelsea goalkeeper has been regularly linked with Arsenal and latest reports are suggesting that the Czech international has agreed personal terms with the North London club.
The Chelsea captain praised the 'unbelievable professionalism' shown by Cech after he had lost his spot to Belgian Thibaut Courtois last season and said that he will strengthen any team who sign him.
“If they do get him, he will strengthen them for sure,” Terry said in an interview with TalkSport. “He will save them 12 or 15 points a season. Petr was an unbelievable professional last year. When you get left out of the team, it can be hard to accept but when he came in he was exceptional,” he said.
The Chelsea defender said that Cech was going to be sorely missed after being at Stamford Bridge for 10 years.
“He deserves a lot of credit for that. We understand he wants to play first-team football, but nobody wants to see him leave the club. He’s going to be sorely missed and will improve any side he goes to.”
Arsenal had finished third in the League last season and were 12 points behind Chelsea and would welcome both Cech and Terry’s words warmly. The 34-year-old also praised Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane who had a breakout season last year and said that the English striker was the best striker he faced last year.
“When you look at Harry Kane and Raheem Sterling, they set the Premier League alight last season,” he said. “Kane was the best striker I played against last year.”
