Arsene Wenger heaped praise on teenager Serge Gnabry after the FA Cup victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, but warned against over-hyping the youngster.

Gnabry shone in an attacking role against Spurs, claiming an assist for Santi Cazorla’s opener and generally being a menace throughout the game.

And his manager, speaking to the club’s official website, singled him out for special praise following the victory that put them comfortably through into the fourth round.

Wenger said, “I am a strong believer in Serge, because I integrated him at the start of last season, but let’s not make superstars out of one game.

“The top level is about consistency, but I believe the ingredients are there. He has to show he can turn up with these performances in every game.

“He has had some good games, but maybe we were not at home. He played well at Swansea, at Crystal Palace and overall today he has shown that he is quality. He had a very good game.

“He is a very young boy. He was born in 1995 so that shows you he is very young and that he has the quality. He is bright and has a good football brain.”

Gnabry has been used sparingly in the league by Arsene Wenger this season, completing only 237 minutes for the Gunners this season.

However, he has completed 107 successful passes at an accuracy of 86%, meaning he completes a pass once every 2.1 minutes, while he has created three chances in that time as well.
