According to Sunday Mirror, Arsenal is all set to offer defender Per Mertesacker a new contract to prolong his stay at the club and avoid a transfer saga similar to that of Bacary Sagna in the summer.
The report says that Arsene Wenger is keen to extend the German’s contract which currently runs till 2015. Mertsacker is also believed to be happy to sign a new deal with the Gunners and feels at home at the Emirates.
Mertesacker, who signed for Arsenal from Werder Bremen, has been successful in forming formidable partnerships with Thomas Vermaelen and Laurent Koscielny in the recent past and thus played crucial role the success of Arsenal.
