After Theo Walcott‘s injury many expected see Arsenal manager, Arsène Wenger, dip into the transfer market for a striker. However, with reports surfacing that Nicklas Bendtner has recovered quicker than expected those plans may be put on hold until the summer.
The Danish international picked up the injury after scoring the winning goal during the New Year’s Day victory over Cardiff – and was expected to be out for up to six weeks.
The news that Bendtner is only a few days away from being back involved in training will no doubt delight Wenger, who was looking short on options with Bendtner, Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott out of action. However, the news may not be welcomed by some Gooners who were hoping to see Arsenal bring in another striker to aid the Gunner’s cause as they lead the chase for the title – their first in 10 years.
Although the Arsenal faithful will care very little where the goals come from if Bendtner quickly returns to the form and sharpness he was beginning to show before his injury and keeps helping win crucial points.
