Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann has revealed that France teammate Laurent Koscielny constantly asks him about a transfer to Arsenal. Griezmann has quickly established himself as one of the best players in La Liga and has gone on to score 66 goals in 128 appearances for Atletico. That has resulted in the rumour columns being lit up his name as he found himself being linked with a move to the Premier League in recent months.
Earlier reports suggested that Manchester United are the English club that are most keen to sign the 25-year-old French International with the player even admitting that he often asks fellow France team-mate Paul Pogba a lot about life in Manchester.
The player stated that he is happy in Madrid but did reveal details about his conversations with Arsenal centre-back Koscielny,
“For Arsenal, [Koscielny] speaks to me about it often. But I’m good in Madrid,” Griezmann said while in conversation with France Football.
“I don’t want to leave. I’m happy here,” he asserted.
Griezmann had a baby girl named Mia with his partner Erika Choperena this year, which he mentioned, while also going on to say that he did think Arsenal played “good football”,
“I have just had a little girl, I play my games, I’m good. Sorry, I’m going to stay.”
“But Arsenal are a good team, they play good football.”
Gameplay suits the Premier League?
Griezmann has been linked with a host of Premier League clubs and many fans think his quick pace and goal-scoring ability would suit the English game well but the player seems content in Madrid.
He hasn’t been in the best form this season scoring only 9 goals in 21 games in La Liga and the Champions League but he is surely determined to get back to scoring ways.
Griezmann stole the limelight off compatriot Pogba as he was crowned as the French Player of the Year for 2016 following an announcement by France Football. While in the Ballon D'Or voting last week, he finished third behind Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
Despite Atletico Madrid’s sluggish start to the 2016/17 season, he was part of the team that reached the UEFA Champion’s League final and the French national football team that reached the finals of Euro 2016. He did end up on the losing side in both finals but he has established himself as one of the game’s finest current players with his performances in those tournaments.
Griezmann could seek a move away from Atletico in the future, the signs are certainly there, but for now, the player is “happy” where he is.
