Arsenal Transfer News: Bendtner Confirms Arsenal Exit, But Not Destination

Nicklas Bendtner has officially confirmed that he will be leaving Arsenal this season, but refused to put a specific name as to the club he’ll be moving to. He put the ball in Arsenal’s court and said that he had done everything he could to facilitate a transfer agreeable to all parties.

Nick set for Emirates exit

Speaking to reporters ahead of Denmark’s friendly against Scotland, Bendtner said-

“Yes. I have done my part as well as I can and it’s up to Arsenal now to sort it out, I can’t do anything more. Hopefully it will be sorted soon but as I said to the Danish press, when I know something they will.

“I would like to play at a place where you are happy and play every week, that is the most important thing for any football player and hopefully that will happen soon.”

Bendtner’s move has been overshadowed by the transfer sagas of more important players such as Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri, but has been going on in the background nonetheless, and it looks to have reached its conclusion.

Bendtner, despite being the subject of widespread derision from large sections of the Arsenal fan-base, has a fairly decent scoring record at the Emirates. He has 22 Premier league goals from 40 starts and 43 goals for Arsenal in total. This in spite of missing large parts of recent seasons through troublesome hamstrings and being played out of position. It has been suggested from within the club that a greater work ethic shown during games would have seen Bendtner reach somewhere near his full potential.

Bendtner found himself shunted to the bench for most of last term owing to the early season form of Marouane Chamakh and the post Christmas purple patch of Robin van Persie. But his best scoring patches at Arsenal have come when he was played as a central striker, and it seems like he will not get enough opportunities to play through the middle at Ashburton Grove.

Stoke City have been linked with the move, but Bendtner laughed his hole off and dismissed all rumors of him becoming a caveman. On being asked, he said-

“I can’t say anything about who I have been speaking to, but hopefully it will all get sorted out soon.”

Stay tuned to find out which club Bendtner eventually moves to.
