Manchester City have succeeded in signing Arsenal midfielder Samir Nasri for a four year contract after he completed his medical in Manchester. Earlier, Manchester City and Arsenal had agreed on a transfer fee of 24 million GBP after it was revealed on Tuesday that the Gunners were ready to sell their star Frenchman. City manager Roberto Mancini has been in pursuit of the talented midfielder from the moment the summer transfer window opened. This combined with Nasri’s eagerness to see riches and trophies along with Arsenal’s dwindling powers as a title challenging team made the transfer possible.
Arsene Wenger tried hard to keep Nasri at the club even if it meant losing him on a free transfer when his contract expired at the end of the season, after the midfielder refused a new contract which reportedly offered him 90,000 GBP per week wages. More complications arose when Wenger announced that he would consider including Nasri in his team for the Udinese trip for the Champions League Qualifiers which would make him cup-tied, thus making City to rethink their position and speed up matters. The roller-coaster has now come to a stop and City have got their man. Nasri, who emerged as Arsenal’s best player last season, will be a wonderful addition to Manchester City who prepare for life in the Champions League and push for the Premier League title.
