Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has accused the English media for “brainwashing” the Arsenal fans and making them believe that there is a crisis brewing in the North London club.
“We live in a world which is very interesting but very excessive. It’s always excessive reaction,” said Wenger.
Arsenal fans appeared to turn against their team after numerous failed attempts to lure in a ‘world-class’ signing in the transfer window so far. Yaya Sanogo is the lone signing made by the club so far.
“The media in general has brainwashed a little bit the Emirates. Maybe rightly so, I don’t know, because we haven’t won trophies for years everything is negative. But we have to live with that and focus on playing well football,” added the manager.
Wenger will try to ease the fans’ unrest by completing the deal for Newcastle midfielder Yohan Cabaye. Though, recent wins against Fenerbahce and Fulham has gone a long way in allaying the fans’ ire, especially after their disastrous start against Aston Villa on the foiirst weekend of the Premier League.
