Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that the Gunners are very keen on signing Antoine Griezmann from Real Sociedad in the summer, according to Goal.
The attacker has been in fine form this season for the Basque side, scoring 15 times in La Primera with only Cristiano Ronaldo and Diego Costa having scored more times in Spain’s top division.
Griezmann has admitted he may need to move away from Anoeta to allow his career to progress, with his eye very much on breaking into the France national squad.
Griezmann is now in the France squad for the first time and could well win his first cap when Les Bleus take on Holland in Wednesday’s friendly match.
And Arsenal are set to ramp up their interest in the summer to convince him to up sticks for the Premier League in order to take some of the goal-scoring burden off Olivier Giroud, with Arsenal’s problems in attack highlighted in the 1-0 defeat to Stoke City on Saturday.
Arsene Wenger has claimed Arsenal have been, “Following him (Griezmann) for a long time,” and will make his interest official come the end of the season with a concrete bid for the talented winger-come-striker.
Antoine Griezmann has netted 15 times for Real Sociedad this season with a conversion rate of 25%, while he has added three assists as well.
