Arsene Wenger could make sensational January move for United poacher

Javier Hernandez on Arsenal radar

According to The Metro, Arsene Wenger is preparing a raid on Old Trafford in January in an attempt rescue the out-of-favour Javier Hernandez from the substitutes bench.

The Gunners have made an impressive start to the Premier League season, winning 8 of their opening 10 fixtures and not losing since the opening day home defeat to Aston Villa. Wenger doesn’t want his team to fade later in the season, however, and with many questioning whether their squad can continue to compete on all-three fronts.

With a reported £60m in his back pocket and looking to ensure Arsenal end their rotten run without winning a trophy, Wenger is looking to bring in a striker that can take the burden off Olivier Giroud and that man could well be playing against them on Sunday.

Hernandez, who has found himself on the bench for much of this season, will be wanting to play more football in preparation for the World Cup next summer (if Mexico qualify, that is) and Arsenal could be his best chance.

The Mexican striker finished last season with 10 goals despite racking up only 954 minutes last season. His clinical finishing is a trait that would come in handy at the Emirates, with 20 of Arsenal’s 22 goals this season coming from inside the box.

Wenger will have some job persuading Man United to sell the fans favourite, but if Hernandez pushes for a move then this could be a match made in heaven.
