Arsene Wenger had admitted that he would only sign a new contract until after Arsenal had reached the Champions League’s last 16.
And now that this target has been achieved, the club will be stepping up efforts in getting the Boss to put pen to paper.
Negotiations have been going on since the summer and rumours were that a £24million offer is on the table.
Most of the board, including major shareholder Stan Kroenke want the Frenchman to stay at the club, and are confident that Wenger will sign a contract extension in the coming few weeks.
Arsene has made it clear that European football is the centre of his vision, and no matter which club he manages, he wants to keep the fans happy.
Wenger, now the longest-serving manager in the Premier League following Alex Ferguson’s retirement, has enjoyed a terrific start to the season, going five points clear at the top.
