Arsene Wenger has not ruled out signing Bayern Munich midfielder Luiz Gustavo and, according to The Daily Mail, insists he still needs to add Luis Suarez to his streamlined squad despite Arsenal‘s comfortable 3-1 win over rivals Manchester City.
Liverpool owner John Henry had said in a statement last week that want-away striker Suarez was not for sale to any club at any price, citing the lack of time to find a suitable replacement as an issue.
Wenger, however, was assertive that he remained unfazed by Henry’s comments and when asked if he had given up hope of signing Suarez, he said “No. We will do it the right way and see what happens.”
When asked whether Arsenal had bid £14 million for Bayern Munich midfielder Gustavo, Wenger only said that ‘there is nothing concrete at the moment’ but did not rule out the possibility.
Gustavo, 26, is surplus to requirements to Pep Guardiola at Bayern Munich following the capture of Thiago Alcantara. Gustavo is believed to have been in talks with Wolfsburg has also attracted interest from Chelsea.
