Arsene Wenger: Delighted with his latest capture

Arsene Wenger is delighted Alexis Sanchez chose to join Arsenal this summer, after the transfer was announced by the club today.

The Gunners had been chasing the Chilean striker after Barcelona made him available, following the takeover of new manager Luis Enrique. Sanchez joined the Catalan giants from Udinese a few seasons ago and despite impressing at Barcelona, Enrique was keen to offload him in-order to raise funds for new signings – including Luis Suarez.

Sanchez completed his medical earlier at Colney, before he put pen-to-paper on a deal at the Gunners.

After fending off such stiff competition from rivals Liverpool and Juventus for Sanchez’s signing, Arsene Wenger commented on the Chilean’s decision to join the north London club and cannot wait to see his big-money signing in action.

Arsene Wenger told reporters: “As many people have seen during the World Cup this summer, Alexis is a fantastic footballer and we are delighted that he is joining us at Arsenal Football Club.

“Alexis will add power, creativity and much quality to our squad and we are all looking forward to him joining up with us in a few weeks. He has consistently produced top-quality performances at the highest level for a number of seasons now and we are all excited to see him integrate into the Arsenal squad. I’m sure all Arsenal supporters will join me in welcoming Alexis to our club.”
