Atletico Madrid fans have started an online campaign to prevent the club from signing Tottenham Hotspur flop Roberto Soldado to replace Diego Costa, according to the Express.
With David Villa joining New York City FC and Diego Costa set to join Chelsea for around £32 million, Atletico Madrid need a new striker and have been linked with Tottenham flop Roberto Soldado.
The fans have not taken it well, forming a campaign to stop the club signing the Spaniard, who before Spurs did so well in La Liga with Valencia.
Soldado signed for Spurs last summer for £26m but scored just six goals in the Premier League – four of which came from the penalty spot. However, it is not just his poor goal record that has angered Atleti fans, it stems back to an incident in 2012 when he stepped on their then-superstar Falcao’s forehead while playing for rivals Valencia
The incident required the Colombian striker to have several stitches which remained for a few weeks, and the supporters have not forgotten it.
They took to Twitter this week to show their displeasure at the rumours, using the hashtag #UnAtletiSinSoldado which translates as ‘An Atletico Without Soldado’.
