Atletico Madrid - The striker generator

There would be a very few who do not know what Atletico Madrid has given to the football world in terms of strikers. They have brought many strikers into limelight.

The Best 4 Strikers of the current generation by Atletico Madrid:

Fernando Torres:

His current form doesn’t show the lethal game he had in Atletico Madrid. But, without a doubt he was one of the finest strikers then and Liverpool had him in their squad from Atletico. He was Atletico’s home grown striker who started with them when he was 11 years in 1995. Went on to play for them till 2007 after which as we know that Liverpool bought him. He was a fantastic player for Liverpool as well until he succumbed to the pressure of the £50 Million tagline in Chelsea.

Sergio ‘Kun’ Aguero:

Sergio 'Kun' Aguero

A world class striker currently playing for Manchester City. Who doesn’t know his class and the eye for goal he has. He was the main player for City in the Premier League success in 2011-12. And of all, the stoppage time winner which gave City the title, was his best goal in terms of importance. He was also an Atletico player. They bought him from Independiente in 2006 when he was 18 years. No club could spot the talent, but Atletico did that. They sold him to Manchester City in 2011 for £38 Million. He has lived upto the expectations till now and undoubtedly is one of the best strikers now.

Radamel Falcao:

Yet another excellent player. Not Basically from Atletico Madrid, but he was brought into the light by the club. Few people knew him playing for Porto. His excellent gameplay, lethal finishing and goal poachers mentality brought him to the level of the best strikers in the world and it happened at Atletico. He joined Atletico in 2011 for around £32 Million(Atletico’s record transfer fee). He then moved to Monaco for £45 Million, which was somewhat an unexpected move but nonetheless a financially good move for both Falcao and Atletico. Maybe playing time was what he needed after the switch and Monaco was the only club that would have assured him of maximum playing time before the World Cup. Currently injured and mostly to miss the World Cup in Rio as well, but we can hope he recovers soon to be available for FIFA World Cup 2014.

Diego Costa:

A player no one knew so well until the current season. He was bought by Atletico in 2007 from Braga. He was couldn’t find playing time as there were the lights of Aguero and Forlan at the club. So he was sent out on loan for a few seasons. After the departure of Aguero and Forlan, came in Falcao. He was played as a backup striker for Radamel Falcao. After Falcao’s departure, now he has got playing time at Atletico and has shown his class and his firepower upfront. Netting 23 goals in 23 matches for Atletico Madrid this season. He has been the target for most European Top Clubs and another striker moving out of Atletico Madrid after coming into light wouldn’t be a shock.
