The Brazilian is one of the hottest properties in world football despite not being in contention to start a game for the next three weeks or so, which is basically the rest of the season.

That is why he has dropped three spots in our power rankings since last month but still features on the list.

Mostly because the wonder-kid from Brazil can turn it all around in Russia with his national side being touted as one of the favourites to win the biggest prize in the game.

And in that event occurring, Neymar Jr. playing a starring role is almost a certainty.

The event in Russia is all that the PSG man has to look forward to and see if he can claim the Ballon d'Or.

But he does have the edge, considering he is in a better position - owing to the geographic location of his birth-place - than both Ronaldo and Messi to lift the World Cup.

In conclusion, Neymar could make a late run for the Ballon d'Or by going all the way in Russia with Brazil.
