Angel Rodriguez got the only goal for his side.

Barcelona-linked striker Angel Rodriguez found himself on the bench in this high-profile fixture but made an instant impact against the side he could end up joining soon, scoring the only goal for the visitors in the 66th minute.

The Spaniard's brilliant first-time effort left goalkeeper Ter Stegen stuck on his feet as he struck Mata's cross beautifully to find the right corner of the goal.

His addition to the side made a visible difference to the side's overall morale and his presence was especially fruitful in the attacking third, as the visitors launched an offensive in the second half, led by their top scorer, whose got his 13th goal for the season tonight.

He proved his worth as a solid No.9 at the Camp Nou tonight and was able to justify the home side's reported interest in him by a short, but effective performance tonight. Too bad it was not enough to earn any points for his team.

He also scored his fourth goal coming on as a substitute tonight, more than anyone else in the league in the 21st century, barring Alvaro Morata.

Griezmann scored his eighth goal of the season tonight.

Since moving to the Camp Nou, Barcelona forward Antoine Griezmann has drawn a lot of flack from critics over his performances with the reigning champions, which many believe have been below expectations.

In scoring the opening goal of the game tonight, he also opened his scoring for the new year in league competitions, taking his tally to eight for the season.

Apart from his contribution in terms of the goal, he was very much in the thick of things whenever Barca moved the ball forward and looked determined to get involved in the buildup.

Though he also missed a couple of good chances to extend his team's lead in the second half, his energy on the pitch tonight was inspiring and he looked comfortable being the focal point of the attack with Messi assuming the duties of the playmaker.

In the absence of Luis Suarez, he needs to put in similar performances like this one and prove that he was worth all that money the club paid to bring him into their ranks.
