What's the story?
Barcelona have been heavily linked with moves for Coutinho and Griezmann, but it seems like they might have some exits of their own in the January transfer window. With Mascherano all but set to leave, it seems like Aleix Vidal might follow him out of Camp Nou and join Serie A giants Roma in January.
The player's agent, Ruggero Lacerenza, even revealed that the player was interested in a move to Roma:
"It is true, there is interest from Roma," Lacerenza told Tele Radio Stereo.
"Aleix is a very high-level player and it would be good to meet with (Roma sporting director) Monchi, since they worked well together in Seville and had a good personal relationship.
"Aleix is happy to play in Spain, but that does not mean he would not like to try other leagues or other clubs.
"The important thing is that the two clubs agree on the terms, but, for, us a loan agreement is a possible solution."

In case you didn't know...
After having joined Barcelona in 2015, Vidal has struggled for both form and fitness. After having dislocated his ankle in February, the Spaniard has slowly worked his way back to full fitness and even grabbed a goal in the Clasico against Real Madrid.
However, with first-team starts hard to come by, the former Sevilla man perhaps needs a new challenge to resurrect his career.
The heart of the matter
Although Vidal has performed well whenever he has been called upon by Valverde, the likes of Semedo and Sergi Roberto are well ahead of him in the pecking order. At 28, Vidal is at the peak of his career and is determined to get some regular playing time.
Roma have been in fine form in Serie A this season. Currently 4th and 7 points off Napoli in the top spot, the Italian giants need reinforcements in the January transfer window to push the teams above them.

Aleix Vidal when fit, can prove to be quite a handful.
Author's take
Vidal is an extremely talented player and although he has had a mixed spell at Barcelona, there is no doubt that he has the potential to be one of the best right-backs in world football when he is fit.
A move to Roma might just reinvigorate the 28-year-old's career.
