Barcelona forward Antoine Griezmann speaks about playing and learning from Messi
The 28-year-old Griezmann agreed to join the Spanish champions on a five-year contract on Friday after Barcelona said it had paid the buyout clause to free him from Atletico Madrid.
Barcelona said it had paid the 120 million euros ($134 million) to trigger his escape clause, and that his new buyout clause will be 800 million euros ($900 million).
Griezmann had a contract with Atletico until 2023 with a buyout clause of 200 million euros ($224 million), but the clause automatically fell to 120 million euros on July 1.
Atletico, however, said it will demand that Barcelona pay the full 200 million euros since "it is obvious the commitment between the player and Barcelona predates the lowering of the clause."
