Besiktas have confirmed that they are in talks with Barcelona over the transfer of left back Adriano Corriea. Adriano had been heavily tipped to join Lazio but after the sudden departure of Marcelo Bielsa that caused a stir, Besiktas have swooped and confirmed that they are in talks to sign the former Sevilla player.
With the Spanish League champions having already signed another left back, Lucas Digne from AS Roma, Adriano's departure seemed imminent and now the Turkish club have confirmed they are in talks to sign the Andalusian native.
The Turkish champions Besiktas were in search of a left back themselves after the departure of Ismail Koybasi to rivals Fenerbahce and they have earmarked Adriano as the perfect replacement. The talks between the two clubs about the potential transfer was confirmed by Besiktas on their website.
"Besiktas have started negotiations with Barcelona and Adriano Correia over the transfer of the player," a brief statement to the Turkish stock market read on their website.
The news hardly comes as a surprise as the Catalans who have already signed 4 new players, are looking to offload some of the other squad players present at the club that they deem surplus to requirement. Adriano along with teammates Cristian Tello and Martin Montoya are all set to move out from the club in the coming days according to reports from Spain.
Adriano, who joined Barcelona from Sevilla in 2010 made 209 appearances for the club winning 4 La Liga titles and two champions Leagues in the process although he was never able to cement a regular spot in the first team and made most of his appearances for the Catalans as a substitute. He will join Marcelo, Gokhan Gonul and Fabri as new signings for the Istanbul club next term.
