What's the story?
Paris Saint-Germain star Marquinhos has spoken about the possible exit of Neymar from the French capital this summer.
In case you didn't know...
A few days back, PSG chief Nasser Al-Khelaifi made it very clear that the club will no longer be tolerating any superstar behavior, hinting towards the distress Neymar has caused over the past couple of seasons at the Parc des Princes. He also openly mentioned that those who are not willing to adhere to the rules are open to leaving the club.
The heart of the matter
In an interview with L'Equipe, the Brazilian defender admitted that Neymar might leave Paris this summer.
“It's difficult to recruit a player like him into your club and it's hard to keep him, but I hope he'll continue with us. He is an important player, he's also a friend, a guy I love, and I really hope he'll stay. We have not talked about his future, I guess there are already a lot of people who only talk to him about it,” Marquinhos admitted
He then spoke about his relationship with Neymar: “He's a friend, so we just wanted to know if he was feeling better, mentally and physically," he continued. He can make movements with his foot, he can already hit the ball a little at home. At the beginning of this he was really sad but today he is better, and that's why it made us happy to see it.”
What's next?
Neymar is currently recovering from an injury he suffered while playing against Qatar in a friendly earlier this month. He has therefore missed out on the Copa America and is expected to recover within the next couple of weeks.
The former Barcelona star has been constantly linked with a move back to the La Liga with Barcelona and Real Madrid being the interested parties.
A return to Barcelona would be quite controversial as the superstar left the Camp Nou to join Paris a couple of seasons back to get more limelight and success. Things have not panned out as Neymar had planned and a move back to Spain can really materialize this summer.
