What's the news?
According to Guillem Balague, Barcelona has submitted an official bid in the region of €170 million to Paris Saint-Germain for Neymar after discussions between both parties. Additionally, La Blaugrana wants to include a few players in the deal to sign the Brazillian.
In case you missed it...
Neymar, after failing to win the Champions League with PSG, decided to seek a fresh challenge elsewhere. Throughout the summer, the 27-year-old has been linked with a move back to Barcelona.
However, after spending big on the likes of Frenkie de Jong and Antoine Griezmann, Azulgrana has failed to match Paris Saint-Germain's hefty valuation of Neymar.
The current LaLiga holders previously offered Ivan Rakitic and Philippe Coutinho in a direct swap for Neymar. However, PSG has rejected such offers.
Taking advantage of the impasse between Barcelona and PSG, Real Madrid entered the race to sign Neymar. Nevertheless, the Brazil international has prioritised a return to the Nou Camp.
The heart of the matter
Barcelona's sporting director, Eric Abidal, alongside CEO Oscar Grau, director Javier Bordas, and Brazilian scout, Andre Cury, travelled to Paris for the dialogue with PSG. As Guillem Balague stated, the negotiation between the parties was deemed positive but nothing substantial has been agreed.
The Parisiens have received an offer in the region of €170 million from the Catalan giants and Neymar is believed to be pushing for the deal to be resolved. PSG haven't accepted the offer but the negotiation has progressed positively.
What's next?
To push the deal, Barcelona is prepared to offer the likes of Ousmane Dembele and Nelson Semedo to Paris Saint-Germain. The LaLiga outfit has also proposed an initial one-year loan deal with an obligation to buy at the end of the temporary term.
The European transfer window shuts on September 2.
