Barcelona face off against Sevilla in the Copa del Rey on Wednesday night, hoping to overturn their 2-0 deficit from the first leg.
We may also see one player leave the club even before the match starts, while Barca are also linked with a few other players.
Here is all the Barcelona news and rumors of 30th January, 2019:
#1 Denis Suarez to Arsenal to be confirmed today
It seems that Arsenal will finally get Denis Suarez, as the Barcelona midfielder is set to move on loan to the Gunners later today.
Spanish journalist Guillem Balague all but confirmed the move, saying Arsenal will have to pay the Catalans €2.3 million as a loan fee, and that Arsenal can buy him at the end of the season for €25 million, although it isn't a deal that Arsenal have to compulsorily complete.
The report also states that Suarez will sign an extension to his contract which means that his contract will expire in 2021.
The Spanish midfielder is reportedly in London and will undergo a medical today. Suarez has previously played under Arsenal manager Unai Emery, when the two were in Spanish club, Sevilla.
Emery spoke about the Barca midfielder but said that the switch to the Premier League will be a challenge for him: “We need wingers. I know Denis because he played with me at Seville. It will be a challenge for him.”
#2 Samuel Umtiti on Dembele
Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti has backed compatriot Ousmane Dembele, stating that the young winger has a lot of quality and that he can help Barcelona win a lot of titles.
"He's a very good player and gives us a lot of quality, he's f***ing playing right now. He's a star and is going to help us try to win the league, Champions League and Copa del Rey," said Umtiti.
Dembele has been criticised for his discipline at Barcelona this season, but has been in good form recently. Umtiti, meanwhile, is out of injured and a return date for him is currently unknow.
#3 Coutinho's Barcelona future
The future of former Liverpool player Philippe Coutinho has been quite uncertain, with the Brazilian not featuring as heavily as many expected. With new signings on the way, Coutinho may no longer be first choice and could head for the exit.
But Spanish journalist Guillem Balague has revealed that Barcelona aren't keen on selling him in the January transfer window, but that could change in the summer. “Barcelona don’t want to get rid of him now. That is the end of that obviously, that became very clear earlier in the transfer window.
“But there is a big but because the problem with Barcelona is they are increasing the wage list, having decreased it of course. But with the signing of De Jong, they’re trying to get Rabiot, they may have to get rid of some players.
“In fact De Jong was told by him coming in meant that two regulars were going to go. So in terms of Coutinho, they haven’t got to that stage where they have to push, or want to push, Coutinho out," said Balague.
Manchester United and Chelsea are rumoured to be interested in his signature, but it is a certainity that it will not happen in this transfer window.
#4 Juan Mata to Barca
Former Real Madrid youth player Juan Mata, could very well by plying his trade with arch rivals, Barcelona, next season.
Guillem Balague once again brings us an inside look into this transfer, stating that the Spaniard wants to stay at United and sign a new contract (which expires in the summer), but clubs are interested in his signature.
"Quite clearly the number one target for Mata is to stay at Manchester United. But quite clearly as well there are clubs interested in his situation and yes one of them is Barcelona.
“They’ve seen with his quality, his experience, he could add something. It’s not the only club that want him, there are others that are interested in him and of course the fact that he’s getting close to the end of his contract makes it very, very interesting," said Balague.
Balague also stated that Mata could have surely left if Jose Mourinho was still in charge, but he may evaluate his decision on who is the next manager of Manchester United.
#5 PSG to sign de Ligt as revenge to spite Barcelona
PSG lost out to Barcelona in the signing of young Dutch star Frenkie de Jong, after Barcelona reportedly showed texts sent by PSG forward Neymar, who complained about the French league and the quality of players.
The French club's President Nasser Al-Khelaifi, now wants to make a "revenge" signing by beating Barcelona to the signature of de Jong's Ajax teammate, Matthijs de Ligt, as per Calciomercato.
de Ligt has attracted interest from all the big guns in Europe, which includes the likes of Bayern Munich, Manchester City, Juventus, as well as Barcelona and PSG. The 19-year-old centre back is tipped to be one of the best in his position and has impressed for Ajax in the Dutch league.
