Barcelona defeated AC Milan 3-1 on penalties in a pre-season friendly at Nou Camp. The match ended with the scoreline reading 1-1. David Villa scored the first goal of his Barcelona career when he netted a cross from Adriano in the 47th minute to give Barcelona the lead. However Filippo Inzaghi scored the equaliser for Milan from a Clerence Seedorf’s pass to make the score 1-1.
The match headed to penalties and AC Milan’s big names misfired. Seedorf had his penalty kick saved and Pirlo unsuccessfully tried to do a Zidane failing miserablyin the process. Messi, Bojan Krkic and Thiago Silva scored for Barcelona.
Earlier Ronaldinho made his Nou Camp return but failed to make a mark on the game. Interestingly, he didn’t took the penalties. The match will be more remembered for the ongoing transfer rumour of Zlatan Ibrahimovic to Milan. Both Barca and the Swede, who moved to the Nou Camp from Inter Milan for £35m in 2009, are said to be keen on a move. The Swedish international spent three years at Inter Milan and joined Barca in 2009, with Samuel Eto’o moving to the Italian club, on a five-year deal. With Villa joining Barcelona, Ibrahimovic may have a reason to move to Milan as he clearly struggled in his first season.
Whether Barcelona sells him to Milan or loans him for a season, it is left to be seen before the transfer deadline ends on 31st August .
