Barcelona’s La Masia has produced arguably this decade’s best string of footballers with the likes of Lionel Messi, Andres Iniesta and Xavier Hernandez as former graduates, and the culture of football practiced in the academy hasn’t toned down one bit.
Adama Traoré, a Catalonia player of Malian decent, is one of the living examples of that. According to a report published by Catalan-based sports daily Mundo Deportivo, Traore has been one of the club’s most sought out player this season with as many as twenty teams approaching either the club or his agent, David Aranda, to sign the 18-year-old winger.
Leaving out competitors Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid, and Espanyol, Real Sociedad and Athletic Club Bilbao, almost every other La Liga teams had enquired for Traoré’s services. Traoré has been attracting interest from Premier League clubs as well with Manchester United, Everton, Southampton and Stoke City being the most interested ones.
Everton head coach Roberto Martinez is said to have been greatly impressed by Traoré, and wishes to offer him the role that he had offered another Barcelona youngster
Except the two great rivals Barca, Real and Atletico Madrid, Espanyol and Real Sociedad and Athletic Basques, all teams in the league have asked for it. Although most interest has come from the Premier. Manchester United, Everton, Southampton and Stoke City Robert Martinez spoke with Zubi and offered to perfect Adama as he did with Gerard Deulofeu last season. Mundo Deportivo also links him to offers from Ajax.
Adama is Bale-esque player with a much more physical prowess, and was promoted to the club’s second team in 2013. He made his professional debut for Barcelona’s first team at the age of 17.
Other players who are attracting interests from other clubs
Other than Traore, Barcelona’s Patricio Gabarrón Gil, Álex Grimaldo, Sergi Samper, Jean Marie Dongou and Munir El Haddadi have been subject to several offers from other clubs.
Munir, who made his debut for the Spanish national team during their 5-1 friendly win over Macedonia on Tuesday, has already having a breakthrough of a season this year. It is to be worth mentioning that Munir has a release clause of €35 million.
Sergi Samper is another player who has been under the radar of Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger who had his previous attempts to sign the 19-year-old midfielder three years ago failed. According to Mirror, Wenger is looking to lure him to the Emirates, and will perhaps match his buy-out clause worth £9.5m.
All the offers made have been reportedly played down by Barcelona despite having a surplus of players playing the same position.
