Manchester City’s Gareth Barry has expressed his grief at the departure of fellow team-mate Carlos Tevez to Juventus.
The Argentine striker’s transfer, which was officially completed on Wednesday evening, draws curtains on a four-year spell at the Etihad Stadium.
In spite of being the focal point of some not-so-memorable issues, his compatriot Barry is sure that the striker will be missed sorely. His transfer means that City will be left with only two recognized strikers in the team, with both Sergio Aguero and Edin Dzeko still at the Etihad Stadium.
The move will also put an end to Tevez’s seven-year stay in England, after stints with Premier League clubs such as West Ham United, Manchester United and City.
Tevez, 29, has been an integral part of the team’s victorious campaigns over the past few seasons, which saw the club being crowned Premier League and FA Cup champions. Barry is positive that Tevez will keep up this performance in Italy as well.
“It will be a massive loss for Manchester City,” the midfielder told Sky Sports News.
“He has had a fantastic few years there and he has been fantastic to play alongside.
“To hear that news is quite sad but he will go and do a great job wherever he goes.”
The player has signed a three-year deal worth £10million with Juventus on Wednesday after having passed his medicals and having agreed with personal terms.
