German veteran Bastian Schweinsteiger, who retired after playing his last international match against Finland on Wednesday has a reason to smile after weeks of being entangled in career-threatening controversies. The German has now been named in the 25-man list of Manchester United’s squad for the Premier League, despite Jose Mourinho asking him to leave the club and forcing him to train with the reserves earlier. You can find the complete list of players featuring in Manchester United’s squad below.

Schweinsteiger refused to seek a transfer away from Old Trafford on transfer deadline day, insisting on his desire to stay at the club rather than joining any other European club. He further revealed that he personally doesn’t see any friction in his relationship with the manager. Reluctant to leave, Schweinsteiger seems to be optimistic about his United career and has completely turned down the possibility of him discontinuing playing football. However, he has admitted that MLS and a career in the US looks likely and a good option.

"I have no personal problems with Jose Mourinho. I still believe in my own ability. I could still help United if given the chance. I have to wait and see now how it goes in September and October and how it develops. One thing is for sure, I'm not going to stop playing football. The MLS transfer window is closed, so it won't happen this season. But of course, the US is an option," Schweinsteiger said.

Mourinho said last week it would be "very difficult" but not impossible for Schweinsteiger to play under him for United this season. An emotional Schweinsteiger played his final game in Germany's colors as they won 2-0 over Finland in an International friendly in Monchengladbach on Wednesday. The 32-year-old made his Germany debut in June 2004 and the veteran ended his international career with 121 caps and 24 goals.
