Germany and FC Bayern Munich midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger has been voted as Germany’s Footballer of the Year 2013.
Schweinsteiger won the voting beating team-mates Franck Ribery and Thomas Müller as he received 92 votes from German sports journalists out of the 527 ballots cast, just five more than Ribery who received 87 votes while Thomas Müller came in third with 85 votes.Schweinsteiger who turns 29 on Wednesday was a part of the Bayern Munich side that created history by winning the first-ever German triple of the Bundesliga, German Cup and UEFA Champions League.Meanwhile Jupp Heynckes was voted as German Coach of the Year with an impressive 383 votes ahead of Christian Streich (SC Freiburg) and Jürgen Klopp (Borussia Dortmund).
And the German Footballer of the Year award for the ladies went to Martina Müller of VfL Wolfsburg, who also won the treble with her team.
