#3. Lazio failed to capitalize on early chances
Lazio looked better-placed to open the scoring in the early minutes of the game as Bayern struggled to find their feet. The visitors saw more of the ball, causing problems for Bayern's defenders, but failed to produce anything substantial.
A 4-1 deficit from the first leg was difficult to overturn, but had Lazio taken the game to Bayern in the initial phase, they could have had an outside chance.
All their hopes were quashed when Lewandowski slotted the penalty in the 33rd minute to make it 5-1 on aggregate.
#2. Bayern's defensive woes continue
The German champions have failed to keep a clean sheet since their victorious campaign in the FIFA Club World Cup. Bayern Munich's sloppiness at the back was quite evident last night.
Even though the game was beyond Lazio's reach, Javi Martinez gave away a cheap free-kick which resulted in a goal for the visitors.
Bayern need to address their defensive woes as they may struggle against top sides going forward.
#1. Robert Lewandowski leads the way
Robert Lewandowski was on the scoresheet for Bayern Munich once again. The Polish international bagged his 39th goal of the season.
Lewandowski slotted in a perfect penalty to give the hosts their opening goal of the night which sealed the tie.
The 32-year-old came also close to scoring his 40th goal of the season just before he was taken off for Chupo-Moting.
Lewandowski took his tally to five goals in six appearances for the Bavarians in the UEFA Champions League this season.
