Berlin, Nov 10 (IANS) German Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich extended their lead on top with a 3-0 win over Augsburg as Dortmund dropped points after a 1-2 loss against Wolfsburg and Leverkusen crushed Hamburg 5-3 at the 12th round.

Goals by Jerome Boateng, Frank Ribery and Thomas Mueller smoothed Bayern’s 10th win in 12 matches Saturday, reports Xinhua. The triumph at the Bavarian derby gives the defending champions a five-point lead in the table.

At Munich, Bayern ensured a perfect start against Augsburg as Boateng scored the fastest goal for his team this season. The German international utilised a rebound following a corner to slot home into the roof of the net from sharp angle at the fifth minute.

Ribery put the win beyond doubt three minutes before the interval as he chipped a dead ball goal into the top right corner to double the lead. Mueller rounded off the 3-0 victory in the dying minutes of the match to break Hamburg’s old record with 37 unbeaten games in row.

Thus, Bayern capitalised on Dortmund’s 1-2 loss to Wolfsburg. It is the second loss of Juergen Klopp’s squad whereas Wolfsburg recorded their seventh win. The Wolves came from behind thanks to two second-half goals by courtesy of Ricardo Rodriguez and Ivica Olic.

Third placed Leverkusen hold the pace as they are equal on points with Dortmund following their 5-3 win over Hamburg.

Elsewhere, Schalke turned the tides against Bremen to win 3-1 thanks to the Kevin Prince Boateng’s double striker

Berlin secured a hard earned 3-2 victory over Hoffenheim that staged a hard fight and, winless bottom team Nuremberg squandered a 1-0 advantage to lose 3-1 to Monchengladbach.
