Bayern Munich has entered into the finals of Champions League by defeating Olympique Lyon by 3-0 on Tuesday. Bayern’s entry into the finals came after a long gap of nine years. Last they have entered the tournament in the finals and won the title was in the year 2001.
The Croatian striker Ivica Olic showed an amazing display of his skills when he scored a hatrick against the Lyons. The German side of Bayern Munich took lead against the French side of Lyon in the first half of the match. Bayern has already taken lead when they scored 1-0 in the semifinals first leg at Munich. Olic scored two goals in the second half of the match.
Lyon’s hopes of coming back in the match was shattered when their Captain and Brazilian defender was sent off in the 59th minute after being shown two yellow cards in quick succession. Though Bayern were without their France winger Franck Ribery who was suspended in the semifinals first leg, Lyon were never into attack and Bayern’s goalkeeper Joerg Butt have nothing to defend in the first half.
However, in 69 th minute of the match , it became clear who will will the match when Olic set free an energetic goal beating Lyon’s goalkeeper Lloris.Olic got the position of ball again in the 77th minute and then he edged past Phillip Lahm’s cross from the right.
The German side will now face the winner of other semifinal between Barcelona and Inter Milan on May 22 in Madrid.
