Among all the rumours and confirmed news of players coming to Munich to join the Bavarian giants, veteran German forward Miroslav Klose is sure to make an exit from the Allianz Arena this summer. Bayern Munich has confirmed through their official website that the experienced striker will be leaving the club very soon as they can not reach to an agreement with him.
Bayern Munich President Karl-Heinze Rummeniege confirmed the news saying:
Unfortunately, our talks with Miroslav Klose have not produced a positive result. We’d have been happy for him to extend his stay, but when it came to the length of a new contract, we were unable to agree on a mutually acceptable period.
FC Bayern Munich wishes Miroslav Klose and his family all the best for the future, and thanks him for our partnership over the last four years.
32 year old Miroslav Klose also seems to have resigned to the fate and is readying himself for the new challenges:
I’ve had four good and successful years here in Munich, and I’d like to thank FC Bayern very much indeed for that. The opportunity to play for this club was always very special.
The German striker has not been very successful with the club even after a brilliant world cup for his country where he equalled Gerd Muller’s record of maximum number of goals scored in world cups scoring a total of 14 goals in three world cups where he represented Germany. He is the only player to score 5 or more goals in two consecutive world cups and 4 or more in three different tournaments.
This year Klose participated in 26 games for Bayern Munich either as a starter or as substitute and has scored 5 goals of which 3 were in DFB Pokal and 1 each in Bundesliga (20 games) and UEFA Champions League (2 matches). He has also provided 3 assists with one each in League and Cup. Strangely though, in the same year he has scored 6 goals in 4 matches in the Euro 2012 Qualifiers and 4 goals in 5 matches in the world cup for the German national team.
Though it is not yet clear where the German star is going to end up the next season, he is being linked with various English and Spanish clubs including Valencia, Tottenham Hotspur and Everton and was linked to Malaga before they signed Ruud Van Nistelrooy.
Meanwhile, Bayern Munich has confirmed signature of goalkeeper Manuel Neuer and right back Rafinha and are now being strongly linked with left back Jerome Boateng after missing out on Coentrao who may join Real Madrid this transfer season.
