While Chelsea midfielder Eden Hazard’s glut of goals have fired the West Londoners to the top of the Premier League, he also has a gluttonous appetite off the pitch, according to the Belgian team chef, reports The Independent.
The 23 year-old’s nimble foot work has made him one of the most feared wingers in the world, but it is his heavyweight diet off the pitch that is a more than a match for burly compatriots Romelu Lukaku and Christian Benteke.
Both the strikers are aptly described as mountain of men, but chef Wym Casteleyn has revealed the 5ft 8in midfielder is the one whose appetite he struggles to contain.
“It’s not necessarily the biggest lads who eat the most. Eden Hazard is the greediest member of Belgium’s current squad. Romelu Lukaku, who is very sturdily built, takes great care about what he eats. He’ll have a lot of fruit and pasta,” Casteleyn declared.
While those that are bigger than him are all too happy to watch their weight, Hazard is not too fussy despite the nutritionists and strict diets plans players are given by their clubs.
The former Lille man was once so peckish he tucked into a quarter pounder burger after being substituted for Belgium in a Euro 2012 qualifier, which landed him a three game ban from national coach Georges Leekens.
However, the only weight Hazard has been carrying recently is Chelsea’s title challenge, after he scored a hat-trick against Newcastle at the weekend.
Although Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho demands that his players are in top physical condition, he won’t mind the young winger continuing his feast, as long it’s on goals and not fast food.
