Belgium’s 23-man squad has finally been revealed by their manager Marc Wilmots with 7 players on the standby list.
The Red Devils have put out a predictable team with quite a lot of usual suspects returning to the squad while new faces have been given a chance to prove their worth in the tournament at Brazil.
Manchester United’s 19-year-old starlet Adnan Januzaj has been called up after revealing his interest to play for Belgium. Manchester City skipper Vincent Kompany, Arsenal defender Thomas Vermaelen, Chelsea winger Eden Hazard are all named in the squad as expected.
In addition, Chelsea loanees Thibaut Courtois and Romelu Lukaku have found a place for themselves in the squad alongside Tottenham’s Jan Vertonghen, Moussa Dembele and Nacer Chadli. Four goalkeepers have been included, however, one of them will be dropped on the availability of 1899 Hoffenheim goalkeeper Koen Casteels.
A list of 6 standby players has also been disclosed by the Belgian boss which includes Chelsea’s Thorgan Hazard.
Belgium have been drawn against Algeria, Russia and Korea Republic in Group H. The Belgians will face Algeria on June 17 as they kick off their campaign in Brazil.
