Finally some good news on the injury front for Manchester United. Dimitar Berbatov has been declared fit to travel to Loftus Road to face Queen’s Park Rangers.
The Bulgarian had to sit out of United’s last three matches after picking up an injury against Crystal Palace in the Carling Cup. And since then, United have had to deal with the loss of club captain Nemanja Vidic and midfielder Darren Fletcher who have both been ruled out for the season with separate injuries.
In his pre match press conference, Sir Alex said:
“Berbatov’s fit. Rafael is back training as well. Darron Gibson got a knock last night [for the Reserves]. He was taken off as a precaution but he should be okay.”
The gaffer is ready to face a resurgent QPR side who, since the Tony Fernandez take over, have added a plethora of players including the likes of Shaun Wright-Phillips, Joey Barton, Anton Ferdinand and Armand Traore. Only two teams have managed to get all 3 points at the Loftus Road but Sir Alex is confident of his team’s chances.
“We always enjoy going to Queens Park Rangers. It’s always a good atmosphere. We have a good record there and I hope we can continue that.
“They’ve done well and given themselves a chance of staying in the league by investing. It’s going to be a hard game. Queens Park Rangers have invested the right way. Neil Warnock realised that when you get into the Premier League you need big players.
“Norwich, Swansea and QPR [all the promoted teams] have done well and adapted to the demands of the league. The rest test, though, is in the second half of the season.”
