The European transfer window is approaching its business end, but it has already seen a lot of big money transfers and dramas. There are a few more rumours which are keeping the fans in suspense.
Before any further moves are made, here is a look at the best XI made up of players who have switched to new clubs so far this season:
Goalkeeper
Norberto Murara Neto joined Barcelona as a backup keeper for Marc-André ter Stegen. The Brazilian made a move to the Catalan giants for a fee of €26m plus €9m in add-ons. He switched positions with Jasper Cillessen, who left Barcelona to join Valencia.
Centre-backs
Lucas Hernandez is one of the top defenders who is expected to make great strides in the future. Having spent five fruitful seasons at Atletico Madrid, the 23-year-old joined the German Champions Bayern Munich for a record fee of €80 million.
Matthijs de Ligt was the player with the highest demand when the transfer window opened. Almost all the big clubs in Europe were interested in him at some point or the other.
Despite being a teenager, De Ligt led the young Ajax side to the Champions League semi-final last year. He joined his childhood idol Ronaldo at Juventus for €75 million.
Full-backs
Aaron Wan-Bissaka joined Manchester United for £45 million, with another £5 million in bonuses. After attracting the attention of big clubs with his performances in Crystal Palace, Wan-Bissaka was seeking a bigger club to make his mark. United signed him to replace former captain Antonio Valencia.
Ferland Mendy joined Real Madrid from Lyon for a fee potentially rising to €55 million. After a disastrous season, Real Madrid have been busy in the transfer market this year. Mendy will compete with Marcelo for a place in starting lineup; it will be interesting to see who Zinedine Zidane prefers in big matches.
Mid-fielders
Frenkie de Jong is one of the many young prospects that Ajax have produced in recent years. De Jong came under the radar of many big clubs after his successful 2018-19 season where Ajax won the domestic double and had a fairytale run to the Champions League semi-final. Barcelona signed the 22-year-old for a reported fee of €75m.
Rodri joined the Premier League champions Manchester City from Atletico Madrid for €70 million. He will strengthen the already strong side which won the historic domestic treble last season.
Rodri's choice to leave Atletico is a big gamble for his career as he may not get as many minutes at Manchester as he did at Madrid.
Tanguy Ndombele joined Tottenham Hotspur for €60 million from Lyon, with Tottenham entering the transfer market after being absent for the last two windows. After a successful season with Lyon, Ndombele even made his national team debut for France as a substitute in a friendly match.
Forwards
João Félix joined Atletico Madrid for €126 million. The 19-year-old had a successful season at Benfica where he scored 20 goals in 43 games. He even made his national team debut for Portugal earlier this year. Felix will replace Antoine Griezmann, who moved to rivals Barcelona, and has rightfully taken up the number 7 shirt.
Eden Hazard finally joined Real Madrid for a fee of approximately €100 million after more than a year of speculations.
The Belgian captain had a very successful career at Chelsea, where he won two Europa League titles and two League titles. He left the club on a high note after scoring a brace in the Europa League final against Arsenal.
Hazard is expected to fill the void left by Cristiano Ronaldo in Real Madrid.
Antoine Griezmann would not have expected so much drama in his transfer to Barcelona. Numerous legal clashes came up against the two clubs regarding the player's transfer.
The French World Cup winner joined the Spanish champions for €120 million, and the fans will be eager to see how Griezmann combines with Lionel Messi.
