A standout performer at the Under-21 European Championships in Israel this summer, it is quite a pity that the 20-year-old is out for six (to nine) months with an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

A box-to-box player midfielder, the Dutchman showed flashes of his brilliance prior to his injury and with a five-year deal to serve out, there is enough time for him to fulfil his immense potential.

And upon his return, van Ginkel won’t have the burden of a massive price tag on his shoulders, as Chelsea got themselves a really sweet deal.
