After a one-year hiatus, United Sports Club are set to make a comeback in the Calcutta Football League's Premier Division, and to make it a successful one the Purple Brigade are leaving no stones unturned. They have appointed Bino George as their new head coach who joined the team's practice at the Kalyani A-Block Ground here on Friday morning where besides Nabab Bhattacharya all other club officials were present.
Bino George who hails from Thrissur in Kerala is a former Viva Kerala and Kerala Sports Council coach. He holds an AFC 'A' License Coaching certificate and since T.K. Chathunni he is the first Malayali coach to manage a Kolkata club.
On the first day of his stint, the gaffer made it clear that he would like to strengthen the defence line and he wants his team to play passing football rather than a long ball game. Meanwhile along with him the gaffer brought five players from Kerala players who represented the state in the 2014/15 Santosh Trophy which includes former United SC footballer Usman Ashiq.
United SC is in Group-B of the Calcutta Football League's Premier Division where they will face the likes of Bhowanipore FC, Peerless SC, George Telegraph SC and their own developmental side Pathachakra, who ironically share the same training ground with United SC.
