The resulting follow-up fell into the path of Anthony Stokes, who scored from a blatantly offside position. Though Blackburn suffered a defeat in the end, Mahoney’s cameo gives an injury-hit Blackburn side some optimism going into the business end of the season as they look to avoid relegation into the third tier.
