Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has ended speculation surrounding midfielder Toni Kroos’ future by declaring he will “definitely” still be at the club next season, report the Metro.
The 24-year-old German international has been strongly linked with a move to Manchester United throughout the season with David Moyes reportedly keen to sign him to provide the creative spark that has been visibly lacking in the Red Devils’ midfield ranks.
With the English giants believed to be ready to offer him a £250,000-a-week deal that would represent a sizeable pay rise for the Bavarian, Kroos’ head was widely believed to have been turned.
However, although the midfielder turned down the club’s first contract offer and is yet to agree an extension, the Bayern chairman has now moved to quash any further exit talk.
“Toni Kroos will definitely still be playing for us next season. Furthermore, we want him to carry on wearing our shirt beyond 2015,” insisted Rummenigge.
Pep Guardiola’s side travel to Old Trafford to take on an injury hit United outfit as they look to become the first team to defend the Champions League crown, but Kroos is adamant that he is not concerned about the perceived uncertainty surrounding his future and is keen to focus on the task ahead of him and his team mates.
“That doesn’t come into it. I’m flying to Manchester with only one thing on my mind, which is to qualify for the semi-finals of the Champions League,” he declared.
Toni Kroos has completed 672 passes in the Champions League this season, double the amount any Manchester United player has managed.
